Price Factors

• A very significant price aspect is the growing demand for palm oil. Worldwide demand for palm oil is always on the rise that too at a far speedier rate than its production capacity of leading manufacturers, especially by the food plus biofuels industries. In addition, the physical restrictions of accessible land for the plantations are restraining the yield capacity. These elements will result in a higher crude palm oil scarcity and consequently will move producers to seek substitutes.

• The weather also plays a critical role in the price deciding factor of crude palm oil. The main plantations are situated in tropical regions and the risk of heavy rainfall may to a large extent affect the quality as well as the quantity of the crop. In these kinds of situation, the price can increase due to falling supply.

• Substitutions also have a considerable role in deciding the price of CPO. Products for instance soy in addition to corn oil can be utilized as an alternative to crude palm oil. If these commodities are bought at a lesser price, this will reduce the demand for CPO. Keeping a check on the prices of alternatives can consequently attest a vital part in anticipating future prices for palm oil.

• Biofuels are partly accountable for price creation of palm oil. In western nations, the demand for biofuels is getting more important. Palm oil is an essential component in the formation of green fuels and thus its demand will amplify extensively. The association between biofuels and palm oil is as a result quite sturdy.
